Dave, you need the right program with double timelines!....it use to be a wish of mine too as i could never do it....you will need Sony Vegas 10 or above ......or a good video editing program

,....not all programs will do it....what program are  you using???? perhaps I can help

Love your mellow play Beetle. Dramatic simplicity. Wish I could figure out how to insert short videos into the shot of the play and then go back and forth like you do. It illudes me.
