Tom T replied to Bill's discussion 20 inch scale build question?
"You have a lot of good choices, but you might consider the following approach. 1. Find you current favorite build. 2. Measure the strings on this one, then use and online string tension calculator to determine the tension of each string. 3. Next,…"

Tom T replied to Jim Codog's discussion Strings breaking --- What good is a 3 string guitar if it only has 2 strings?
"If you are tuning something like G2 D3 G3 and have a 25" scale you are pulling around 28 lbs tension on the high G string. That's not normally break tension, but is a good bit higher than you actually need. As for tuning to the wrong…"

Tom T replied to Michael Pounds's discussion Best tuners for nylon strings?
"While any decent quality tuner will work for you. You may find that the strings stay in tune a bit better with classic guitar tuners since they have a larger diameter roller section that may grip the nylon strings a bit better. Either way, you…"

Tom T replied to Patrick's discussion Buzz niise
"Grounding is the cause of this 99.9% of the time. In a small number of other cases, it could be caused by florescent lights, a bad audio cord or an un-grounded wall outlet where your amp is plugged in. Start with the grounding on your guitar."

Tom T replied to Josh Thompson's discussion Filming Your CBG, questions?
"There are a number of YouTube blogger video cameras available for $50 or less on Amazon and Ebay. They are HD capable so quality should be good. This setup would produce stuff a lot better than my cheap cell phone (not iPhone 11)."

Tom T replied to Kevin Keating's discussion ignition coils as pickups???
"I spent a good bit of time thinking about this earlier this morning. I'm having a hard time seeing how a an automotive coil could function as a signal transfer device as a magnetic pickup does. A mag pickup functions by having a permanent…"

Tom T replied to Robbie's discussion bad interference or hum
"Doesn't the WickedBucker have four screws to mount and hold the cover in place? Regardless, You should be able to install at least one string and do a quick noise test to see if you actually have a problem for find. You may actually be good to…"

Tom T replied to Robbie's discussion bad interference or hum
"Don't know what pickup you are using, but it probably shouldn't be moving inside the cover. If you can confirm that, then a small dab of silicon seal or hot glue should be enough to stabilize it. Moving issue aside, I think you just need…"
