Thanks for the advice on fret placement. Have just constructed 2 necks for my CBG's. Had a lot of help from this site and google even though some were a bit complicated, I thought that CBG's were unsophisticated barnyard instruments but I was wrong Thanks Mike

Album Notes
Cigar Box Guitar and classical music met again after 150 years!

In the middle of XIX century there were musicians who classical pieces performed on homemade instruments such as Cigar Box Guitar. But, unfortunately, there are no records of these unique
performances did not survive. How do sounds classical music of the Renaissance on cigar box guitar?

"Das Wohltemperirte Cigar Box Guitar" Album ( translation: Well-Tempered sigar box guitar ) was recorded in a home studio by Eugene Nemov.

The list of works you will see all the familiar songs and names of composers such as Franz Shubert, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Albinoni and names of familiar music lovers Renaissance: Pascal Bouquet and Francesco da Milano.

Pascal Bouquet - French lutenist, he lived in XV-th century. Pascal Bouquet composed many excellent works for lute and baroque guitar. Musical notations this musician survived to this day. "Brande des Hermites" and "Volte Praetorius" - it's two works from the collection of popular dances of France, Pascal Bouquet written specifically for learning to play the lute.

Francesco Canova da Milano (Italian Francesco Canova da Milano) - Italian Renaissance lute, one of the major European composers XVI veka.Franchesko Canova da Milano is one of the best composers of lute music, and possibly greatest lute virtuoso of all time. His work, and the amazing beauty of a consistently high level, and are often performed today.

Just the album includes two copyright works Eugene Nemov - "French dance" and "English dance". They are written in a popular style of lute music of the Renaissance .

All works have been performed at 3-string classic guitars from cigar boxes, made by Eugene Nemov. Description and images of these instruments You can see on the site www.cigarboxguitars.ru and personal Evgeny Nemov page on the www.cigarboxnation.com ;

Enjoy!

And now I feel like a complete knoob...I only have it listed for shipping to U.S. & Canada. If interested, I can sell direct after auction closes, if it is still available. I'd do it for the $100 plus shipping, which I believe is $85 ( $185 total)

Cheers Red, thanks for the friend request. Also an update on the strum stick. I have it listed on Ebay, listed at starting bid of $100 plus shipping (nobody has bid on it and auction ends tomorrow morning). No pressure or worries. Have a great day.

The strumstick shown below is birdseye maple neck/sides with spruce top/back, and diatonic frets. The pic in this post is birdseye maple neck/sides with flame maple top/back and regular frets. Both have rosewood fingerboard. This one is acoustic/electric, the other is acoustic only.

Hello Redbelly,

I read your post in Classifieds & Swaps in Cigar Box Nation...looking for a strumstick? I have two. One is fretted like a strumstick (diatonic like a dulcimer and tuned DAd) and the other has standard fret scale (like a guitar tuned GDB).

Shipping to Australia from here in Canada is a bit pricey...best rate I could find is $85. If I added that to the cost of the strumstick ($150), the total cost would be $235.

If interested, I would be willing to drop that to $220.

I have Paypal.

Think about it and let me know.

Cheers

Scott

I photograph old abandoned barns and houses. I also carve and paint plaques showing the most interesting. Haven't gotten commercially good at the carving thing. Night Owl has a marvelous indstructable on Amazing Grace if you are into that type music. Even if you are not very good.

youtube has a video on how to determine frets for any length scale. Oh, and welcome. Seems you are already learning your way around! I am also a total novice and joined cause learning to play guitar is on my bucket list. Funny I cannot play but I am already about to start my third build  -  it is addictive!
