If there is no indication on the speaker, no +/- and the lugs are identical, is there a way to tell + and -, or does it not matter?Continue

I'm building a tiny amp in which the 2 speakers will fire out opposite sides. In order to fit, the magnets of the speakers will be in very close proximity, essentially touching in fact. Problem?Continue

"That's the string nodes(vibration at different point position of the string length) I was talking about. Your correct in the way you explained it.  Higher output for the bridge area - lower output for the neck area for best results. High…"

"Hi, thanks for the explanation Paul. I remember suggesting, what you have just put so well, in an earlier post about pickup positioning. I mentioned that pickups are often labelled neck middle and bridge for the reason you mention above.  But…"

Paul Craig replied to Joe Williams's discussion pickups
"When it comes to position, it's usually about the tone. Neck for more Bass, middle for more Midrange and bridge for more Treble. You are correct for moving the pickup towards the bridge for less output. A Fender Strat will usually have a 5k…"

"Been thinking of trying lipstick. Also, is it reasonable to assume that, all else equal, about any pickup will produce less distortion in the bridge, rather than the neck position?"

Paul Craig replied to Joe Williams's discussion pickups
"Some pickups offered on sites will list a DCR which is a level of resistance the coil will read. It's not an accurate gauge of a pickup's output, but it can give you an idea. Original Lipstick Tube single coil pickups had a 3k ohm DCR and…"

"I have a 386 Ruby Amp with Gain pot on pins 1 & 8, it's able to get good cleans when I want them, but I'm using a 5 & 1/2" speaker from a 10 watt guitar practice amp. Small speakers will be overdriven easier. So if your…"

"Fun amp you’ve got there, maybe try finding a 10w practice amp, it won’t start to distort until you really turn it up. They’re usually pretty cheap in used stores?Generally 0.5-7watt amps distort no matter what, I’ve got a…"
