"Right now, almost done with the 7 guitars I'm building. 1 is top priorty because my father's birthday is next week. He is the reason how I got into guitar making. He originally had a black Telecaster when he met my mother.…"
"Couple of ways to have a no-toggle-switch guitar. But all root to how the pickups were made. One should be north and the other, south. Both can be wounded the same direction. The positive becomes the ground and the negative becomes the hot of one…"
"Bobbins should be non-conductive. Wood or acrylic thin boards around 1/8" or 3/16" would be recommended. Or any non-conductive material, even a vinyl record.
Coils need to be suspended, if you used aluminum, you can fry the whole…"
"You should be fine using it as a preamp.
I never installed a headphone preamp inside a guitar, but I have used them in recordings to boost levels I needed because I had a bare bones 4 track Tascam with just level and panning, oh and the…"

I buy gold medium frets when going all gold hardware, even the nut is polished brass.
"I suggest to cut out neck plates from 1/4" thick wood. Or if you are a blacksmith, you can custom make your own plates because I never found metal neck plates for a cbg. I tend to make my own from wood.
Also, if you have a truss rod in the…"
"Hey Paul, I too bought these Toaster Buckers. Really underrated pickups and a nice chunky sound. Never tried Filtertrons to compare. The only mounting rings that fit perfectly for these mini humbuckers are sold at CBGitty.com as Chrome Small…"
What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).
I love guitars of all kinds. Its the sound and tone of them that attracts me. The thing I love more about CBGs, is the nature of building something out of nothing. Taking average, everyday material and creating an instrument that will fly you to the moon and forget about the world. I don't know if the word exists to describe the world of ingenuity CBGs are, but its dank, dirty, garage, gully and best of all, funky.
