"I've always felt that scales are best measured from the nut to the tailpiece instead because bridge placements like you mentioned."

"I've chopped a 23" scale fret board to a 20.825" scale for an electric guitar. I just cutted off the first two frets to accommodate the size and scale. The tone is a much darker growl. You would think it would go higher at a short…"

"I only assumed you're a luthier because your name reminds me of PRS' for some reason :) Besides, Paul Craig Guitars does sound like a made company. Thats some awsome history. Glad you decided to return to building, every man needs a hobby.…"

"Oh thanks for that info about sustain. You must be a luthier right. Me, I'm no luthier. I learned from a Les Paul DIY kit and absorbed its construction for weeks before building it. After that build, I had extra hardware pieces that I thought…"

"Yes, Ha, its an old Craftman router my father bought from Sears when we lived in NY back in the 90's. Its all steel and sturdy. They don't make them like they used to but it holds firm. Maybe a little movement from the vibration of the…"

"I'm not the best source of information on electrical stuff, but I believe you need to hook the red as output (positive) and the white and bare will both go to ground."

Wiring CB Gitty Black Ice Single Coil

Hello everyone, I had bought a Black Ice single coil from CB Gitty, (Not the black cube capacitor from Stewmac). I noticed it came with 3 wires; Red, White and Bare.  Last time I saw this kind of wiring were for some EMG active pickups.  I don't think the Black Ice pickup is an active one, nor does it say it on their website. But it does say Red=positive, White=negative and bare=ground.I plan to pair the Black Ice with CB's Dual Rail pickup on my build but not sure about the Black Ice's…See More

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).
I love guitars of all kinds. Its the sound and tone of them that attracts me. The thing I love more about CBGs, is the nature of building something out of nothing. Taking average, everyday material and creating an instrument that will fly you to the moon and forget about the world. I don't know if the word exists to describe the world of ingenuity CBGs are, but its dank, dirty, garage, gully and best of all, funky.
