CB gitty 2.5w amp distortion

Started this discussion. Last reply by Fergus Lester on Wednesday. 7 Replies

Just wondering what the 2.5 w amp board from cbgitty sounds like when distorted. Ive tried other chipmamps and some distort nicely e.g. LM386, but others do not e.g TDA2003.

Ive made amps using other modules but what do the CBGITTY ones sound like especially when overdriven? A lot of solid state amps do not distort nicely. I have several tins and boxes crying out to be…Continue

"Looks like the psycho along with the amp can drain the battery pretty fast. Admittedly using rechargeable 9v battery which doesn't have much capacity. Might use external 9v power supply instead"

"Yes that sounds like what I'm after but am curious to know how it sounds without the psycho knob. In my Marine Band amp I have a TDA2003 amp board which sounds OK clean but not distorted so am considering changing the electronics."

Not an original idea but...

"Hurleys are always made of Ash. Often Irish ash, but not sure about this one. The jack and pot are mounted in a piece of a cheeseboard, possibly ramin or something similar."

Some of you may know what a hurley is but its used in this great sport. https://g.co/kgs/gsEFqV. They are vaguely guitar shaped and so I often used one in lieu of an air guitar in my youth. So imagine my delight when I came across this lad.
