Hi Douglas
In responce to your question about Truss Rods - the ones i use are bought they are the two way type and made from Stainless steel i think they work out about £9 UK or 1148.87 Yen which is pretty cheap and they work very well and only require a 11mm X 6.5mm groove cutting in the neck - there are other types out there like the Stewmac hotrod which is also a two way type but requires a lot bigger groove to fit it - as for the screw Rod method i can't really comment on it as i have never tried that method but i would think using screwed Rod you would need at least a Rod of 10mm to do the job right which would cause problems as the thread is M10 and the nuts that fit a M10 Thread are 17mm spanner size which is a big chunk of metal - you may get away with using 6mm screwed rod but i'm just gessing to be honest - for what a real truss rod costs i just save the guess work and buy them from Ebay

hope that helps

juju.

Just checked the details before I post them to the world and have discovered that this is not the CHAMP unit that I put together (that is in another box) but it is the KEMO B182 that I put together. Also has a great sound for a little unit.
KEMO also have a premade amp (2W?) in a resin block that saves the problem of soldering, you only need to connect the input, battery and speaker.
I have put together a couple of the Jaycar style kits and have found that if I take a little time and keep the solder joints neat and clean everything seems to work.

Welcome aboard, Douglas! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).

Up in the Free Resources menu at the top, you will see a number of plans for building and playing cigar box guitars/ukuleles/banjos/dulcimers/violins. I encourage you to download any of the plans, take a look at them, and ask questions from there. Also our site is VERY searchable. I bet you your questions have already been asked, so take a few moments and look around.

Join our Chat sometime (see the bar at the bottom of your browser page). Keep in mind that tho the chat window says there are X number of people online, not all may have the chat window up.

Most of all, have fun!

-Wes
