Welcome Eric to my short, but growing, list of friends on the Nation. I tell all my friends, I love to trade.....boxes, parts, ideas and stories. If you ever find yourself looking for a specific box, give me a shout and if I have it, its yours. I even sent a guitar to Jim Morris for a few months so he could test it for me ( he did a video).
Something else we did this year was to invite other artist, painters, sculpters and such to display their work at our fest to give another dimension to the fest. After all we're all artist of some kind or another.
It's a whole lot of fun. If you do run with it , would be happy to answer any questions to help you get things going.

Having a resturant for a host and using their property took care of those sort of things for us since the resturant already had all that in place. If you decide to do this just ask the owner how that would work, they will probably know all that already. We tell all vendors that sales tax is their responsibilty to collect and report if they feel it applies, the fest is not responsible for that. You can check out our website, www.stlouiscigarboxguitarfestival.com to see some pics and I think a video.
Here in ST. Louis we found a resturant to host our fest and used the parking lot. Then found someone to headline and invited builders to display and sell their guits. Getting the word out is the tough part, after 3 years we still find people who had never heard of it and were excited to find out. All in all it's been alot of fun.
Eric the closest fest to you might be the Huntsville Alabama fest. Not sure that's close but don't know of any others. Might consider starting your own fest for yourself and other Ga. CBG'ers.

Yes Eric I did make the tail pieces from stainless sheet. On some of my older builds I have been known to cannibalise the wife's kitchen utensils
Thanks for the invitation, Eric!

Again, welcome.
I bought some brass strip from a model shop.Cut to length, drill two holes for fixing screws and three for the strings, radius the ends and polish
Thanks for the friend add, Eric :-)
Thanks for your comments Eric.
Regarding your question on strings through the box, this one is from 2009,it has a brass plate front and back to stop the strings tearing the timber
