My Grandad taught me at age 12 how to pour and enjoy single malts. He started me off on the classic four then available in the States: The Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, and Glenfarclas. He taught me to drink them both neat, and with a wee splash of spring water. Since then I've become a fan of both Speysides and Islays: The Royal Lochnagar 16, The Macallan 12 and 18, a Lagavulin sherry / port cask 16, the Laphroaig 12, and my new fav, a Bunnahabhan 12. I always drink them neat now. Had a rare Macallan 35 about 10 years ago, courtesy of my then-employer. Can still remember that one. Mmmmmm!
I only get to enjoy them when I go back to the States for vacation, or my rare trips to Scotland ( which I love visiting, and can't wait to go again).
