Hey Paul
No problem mate , always glad to help out when i can , yes it talkes a little more work to do the bound necks but i think it's well worth the extra effort.
You have done some very nice work yourself , the ukes look great , still need to make one myself , use some of the smaller boxes i have aquired along the way
Thanks for adding me to your freinds ,BTW thats a great looking Dog you have
Take care

hey paul , This is a Bound fretboard , down the edges of the fretboard i have used maple and oak , the fret tangs are cut back so the Fret overhangs the Bindings and no fret tangs can be seen , hope this explaines the Diffrance between Bound and unbound fretboards .

This is a normal Unbound fretboard , you can see the fret Tangs on the side of the fretboard

There are no sound holes . I built this before I joined CBN . I"ve come up with more soundhole ideas looking at the cbg's. Theres a block inside the box where the neck attaches , I then used 2 screws to attach the neck.
I then attached a block under the bridge with gorilla glue also holding them in place.

Hey Paul,Niice builds. Thanks for the comments on my new builds, Those romeo boxes are particle board tops but i find them to be pretty and I guess the depth adds volume. They are the loudest particle board tops ive built with.I also built a black one a few months back called Romeo distressed.Had to distress it due to sticker damage. Its one of my favorites to play.

Hey Paul that is a stencil I found.
I stenciled it on there and then went back over it with a paint brush and put in the fine details..
Thanks for your comments!

Hey Man, thanks for the comments.... A lot of the ideas come for building six strings.( as a hobby I have started an OM acoustic it's almost finished ) so that's where a lot of the construction techniques come from. On my blog
www.jimguitarbuilding.blogspot.com I post links and books that have been helpful to me. As far as building and not playing goes... My advise is (and it's only advise) pick up a copy of Keni Lee Burgess' instructional cd on playing guitar. It covers the basics and in "my" opinion it will make you a better builder.... If there is anything I can do to help let me know.... Jim

Thanks for the kind words about my Resobanjo. It plays, holds tune, and none of the frets buzz, but I still want to get a few minor things done to it before I'm completely happy with it. I'll probably post a vid when it's all squared away.

Thanks for the kindness. I lucked into that Punch box at a tiny cigar shop in Holland, Michigan. Something about those boxes almost demands to be made into a guitar.

I discovered (a dopey revelation) that a dremel tool and access to a drill press makes crafting heads *much* easier. I've been a little nutty since then.

Paul what I use are the smallest brass washers and nuts that I can find . I drill small holds and super glue the washers it keeps the strings from cutting into the wood . I place the nut on the bottom so the knob of the string doesn't pull into the wood on the bottom . Works for me for now :-) I see where Stewart Mac has Brass eyelets that you use to mount pickup flatwork with ,50 for 5bucks thought about ordering some but the washers work for now . Hope these helps....
