Thanks, Dave, and you as well.  Hopefully we will be able to meet sometime in the future. My wife and I get up your way a couple two three times a year just to enjoy the Shore.  We have been staying at Fenstads (Little Marais) for over 10 years now. My wife has been staying there since she was a kid.

It was great conversing with a nation friend in person (sort of!).  Sounds like you've got a good thing going with your circle of musical friends...I'm jealous....

Thanks much my Duluth friend!  I probably won't market them myself but if you want the copyright, you can just send me a buck for everyone you sell!!!!!!!!!!  Kidding of course. ;-)  I'd be happy to teach you to how I made them.  Send me an email and I'll give you my phone number.

Thanks for the lap steel tips Dave. I am about 20 builds behind on orders, so it will be awhile before I can get around to building my lapsteel. Plenty of time for research I reckon! Thanks again!

Hi Dave - yes i like to draw myself but dont seem to get that much time to get stuck in these days maybe a quick rough sketch now and then

i find the pickups work best with spacing between 4-8mm anything closer and your going to end up fouling the string on the pickup if the string hits the magnet it's not a nice sound ! - like you said if the string is too close a added fretboard will cure the problem

yes i used the woodscrew nut/bridge idea myself some time since worked well and ideal for a one stringer

right gonna run it's been a very busy day and i'm shot ... time for some shut eye :)

speak soon

Hi Dave

I had another one of them suprize packages yesterday - i knew it was from you before i looked at the senders address due to the cool drawings on the box - very cool mate love the cyclops eye many thanks my friend your a good one or as we say here in Yorkshire a gud-un

the pictures of your cyclops Diddley are looking cool - you have the gift of a great minds eye able to picture what you want in your head before you build it - i also have the same sort of thinking behind my builds i never draw any plans just go ahead and build it using all the key factors like scale lengthect ect then it all comes together

thanks again mate

Lake nice. Sounds like you have a nice place to live although On a Sunday You should only use the chain saw for the BBQ.

That sounds like a great price. I was averaging about 25- 30.00 + for boards at Lowes per guitar,  but I had a bunch of waste.  The new place i found is a cabinet factory and has alot more traditional tonewoods including mahagany maple ash etc.  Would like to see the lap steel.  John

Thanks Dave For the kind remarks.  The solid bodies are very basic.

1 piece back--neck all the way through and a couple layers of "ears"--boards

glued pancake style to the back and neck sides.  I have just used boards (oak/poplar) from Lowes, but recently found a source for some better wood.  I am hoping to start on another one as soon as a body shape pops into my head lol.  Thanks again  JOhn

When I get it up right  will sort the plan I think I will make it free. The GuiBango  thing is waiting in the wings i was sorta on the copy matchine most of yesterday and had such a hard time getting it to upload.

I was pulling my hair out lol.

And here in Switzerland you can not make noise on Sunday so no power tools today.

I like your method too It works well. I do a bit of Air brush too and other painting and drawing. I gotta live to 150 to do all the stuff I like lol.

But now I am going to do some weeding in the veg patch for an hour.

Davey

Yes the biggest thrill is hearing it played... I also get a kick out of watching the faces light up when they see it for the first time. So far every time it's like seeing a kid get exactly what they wanted for Christmas... lol

Thx a lot, even if i find you'r builts verry nicer than mine !!

But i already realise that lot of folks, seems to have verry better tools than me !!! Anyway i do with my stuff !!! And yes lot of boxes (in France they give it (tobacco's shops i mean), or they  go to the trash anyway, so you have to be at the right place, at the right time !!) but i'm bored by softwood !! Tomorrow i have to go in a tobacco shop, they say to me 2 weeks ago, that "they will keep it some for me" but i don't know if there will be hard-wood in it" surprise !!

And i don't know why, there's no "Punch" (i don't find them verry nice anyway) and no "Cohiba" in France ???? !! Will try to show you that in the next days, i already have a little résonator finish to photograph !! and i'm finishing a single coil, hardwood montecristo just few drying days more !! Bye
