This discussion group talks about how to make your own wooden boxes to use as the sound box for your box guitar. I believe after you build a couple, you will come to realize that box building is not that hard to do, and you are not limited to the sizes and shapes of the cigar boxes you can find or buy off the Internet. You can make real simple boxes using what is known as a "butt joint" and back the joint up with "corner blocks" to create the box frame, then using thin plywood veneer, cut out and glue on the top sound board and bottom back board, Of course, before you glue on the last board, you will want to connect the neck to the box, be it a neck-thru or a bolt-on neck. After that, you can experiment building boxes with what is known as the "box joint" or "finger joint", which is what is commonly used on wooden cigar boxes.
