Hey, I did enjoy the video. I subscribe to Del's channel so I had already seen it. Del is one of my favorite builders and I have the guitar featured in the YouTube link I posted where he showed the actual wiring and the wiring diagram for that guitar.
HI Denbo, like yourself I don't profess to be an electronics expert, but I have used several Dual Rail Humbuckers in past builds, all of which were Chinese Ebay purchases, and have found that the wire colouring combinations can vary from one supplier to another, in the case of the latest Hubcap build it was Green & Black (9.5k) hardwired to the Jack, and , Red and White (4.3k) which is not attached and just left alone.
The only way I'm sure of what the combination of colours are and which one is which, is to use my Digital Multimeter, one combo usually reads around 9.6k which I presume is the Humbucker Wiring, and abt 4.3k, for the other combo which I presume could be classed as a Single Coil Wiring if so chosen.
Now having said all that, I have also used other Humbuckers, as well as some of the Dual Rails, where I have, what I think they refer to as being called Splitting the Humbucker, which involves a 3 way switch, ie; as in the case above, Green & White combo to one position and Red & White combo to the other, which usually gives you an option of 9.6k or a 4.3k Pickup.
I've tried to explain this as best I could, so hope it isn't too confusing, and if you have any queries at all please ask, the other tip I can offer, is that I always ground my Pickup via the Output Jack to the to the Bridge (if Metal) or the Strings.
Yep its a sturdy Tin but it wil need support on the top lid i think, been fretting today but run out of glue, gone do the pickup on the neck, open tuner head,
in this stage im getting more and more curious what she 's gone sound like,Mohagany neck, and a vingerboard from teak(red) but it will take some more time, waiting on Glue to dry !Thanks for the like Dennis ! Greeeettsszz On ye !
