Yeah, I've been trying to get as broad a range of ones and styles as I can.
Nope, the last one, Gypsy Caravan, was played, originally fingerstyle ( lots of right hand thumb for the arpeggios), but recorded using a metal pick for more volume, on my new Yamaha Guitalele. It's like a 6-banger uke, tuned in " standard" A ( same as a standard guitar capoed at the fifth fret). Has a sweet tone, no?
Hey! Sorry for poo pooing your comments regarding the similarity between my Revelation of St. John song and my Townes Van Zandt stuff. I was playing Revelation and realized I had completely nicked it from my arrangement for Black Widow Blues. You called it, and I was utterly oblivious. I bow down before you. Still, think I can get away with it, as my arrangement sounds nothing like the Townes original.
Being from the UK, I have been force-fed The Beatles from an early age. While I recognise the talent and songwriting prowess of the fab four, I have got to the point that I find it very difficult to listen to them. You know, as they say, familiarity breeds contempt. So. I thought I'd sit this one out, and hope to collaborate in the future on a project that's more up my street.
i'm discovering and listening to Townes Van Zandt music (thanks to you) ; this is awesome real music. best stuff i've heard i guess, on the level with Neil young.
this vid is just awesome and this song a masterpiece:
You're right, RTZ. I better not ask my follow up question concerning whether adding a polyurethane coating to the box dampens the sound quality. That'll keep 'em going for another 5 pages!
Thanks a lot. Yes, some things keeping me from being able to do all that I want, but I hope that won't last forever. I don't have a lot of free time for now, so I couldnt get to the Beatles, but would have liked to. Appreciate your nice words, and you take care too...
