It gets easier. I think finding just the right slot width is important. If your fretboard/ neck is straight and you can press the frets in you minimize fret dressing, which can become twice the work!

Yeah, Wade. I've noticed that on the two necks I've made so far, Not gonna' discourage me from continuing to try, though! I'm a glutton for punishment!! :)

Clean work! The first neck I did like this many years ago was the last. It works, but regular frets are much easier in my opinion. For me the wire tends to stretch and not lay completely flat on the fretboard... frustrating to say the least!

They are on the other side of the neck where my thumb and fingers are less likely to hit them, filed down and tapped into the neck. Tempted to put a dab of Superglue Gel or epoxy over them as an added precaution in case the thumb comes into contact with them somehow. :)

Ha Ha, James it would be no fun for me either. I think I could fret a fingerboard quicker than all that twitching. Where are all the sharp ends waiting to grab some skin as you slide up to the 10th fret area whilst deep in the mood of the song.

Think you were joking, so am I. But its good to remember days gone buy.
