Excited to be a new member of Cigar Box Nation. This is my first build that I made from an Arturo Fuente box. Nothing elaborate, just learned on this one. Used Poplar neck, Oak fret board, Cbgitty tuners and wiring harness, and various bolts and screws I had around the house. Used a bridge humbucker from a telecaster and a piezo disk I salvaged from an old smoke detector. No frets, just a slider. Been fun learning to build and play slide. Now I'm addicted and a junky. :)
Now working on a second CBG dedicated to my 1st grandson. Will post more on this later.

Here’s the conclusion of the Smokey amp & Amp head, this is a continuing saga, so there’s more to come? This time we’re adding an External Power Adapter. This will give us freedom from dying batteries & a steady 9 volts at all times? And it’s super EZ! Rock on, my good people...

Had to make a 2nd one so my wife and I can try to learn to play these thangs, together! I wanted to give this one a caribbean look with the coloring (even though the cigar box is from Holland). 25" scale with blues fret markers. Not sure if I'm "right" by doing that - I have watched 8,239 videos (give or take 8,100) so it is very possible I got my wires crossed on that. The bridge is temporary, until I come up with something creative.
Just wanted to put together a combo video, introducing myself to CBG Nation as well as sharing my first CBG project - a Diddley Bow.
Here is the link to my Video:

We recently moved to a new area. This past Saturday stopped in to an antique store and was smitten by this diddly bow. The huge single-tuner is very cool... wish I had a better shot to show it to you guys. The tag indicated is was from the 1930's.
And check out the old home-made fiddle. No background info on it.
This mountain dulcimer also on display is said to be locally made.
And here's a pie-plate banjo.
I felt a real connection with the people who built these.
This is made with all CB Gitty's parts: Mocha tuners gold strap buttons, 2 gold mini buckers and gold hardtail also the frets are the narrow gold ones. Figured I would call it Goldie in honor of the good the bad and the ugly.
So I am getting a lot of youtube recommendations of Fenders new tenor guitars. And once I saw the price of them ,,,,,, Well I had to make one instead of going and getting one.
Body is fir with a redwood top, red oak neck maple fret board with turquoise stone chips and fine grinds set with super glue. All hardware is from Gitty except the mini buckers.
25 1/2" scale
Well I finally got my first cbg done I made it for my sister and sense I have not yet been able to play a tune on it I plan on taking it to a friend of mines shop tomorrow and see what he thinks my brother cane out to the barn to see what I was getting done and he ended up giving me a hand now he’s finding it interesting that a cigar box can sound so clean
Heres my latest one, Banjo style round box of birch ply with laser cut soundhole of a stripper on a pole, Rod piezo & preamp, its quiet acoustically but wakes up when you plug it in.

Here’s something that might be useful to some folks. I learned this from a veteran Handyman some decades ago, so I won’t claim it to be my idea? Something he didn’t notice? If you use as much of the tube as possible, only a 1 1/2” by 3/8” piece (Valve Stem) of it will be thrown in the trash. That’s good for the environment! Which is always a plus. The Tools used were: Razor Knife & Sharp Scissors/Shears. I ended up cutting over 200+ different size bands from 1 Bicycle Tube? Get your Cheap on, my good people...
A good use:
Thanx for Lookin’! Keep it simple & have fun! BrianQ. 2020
another lap steel along a similar theme as my previous post. This one is #147 with a 25.5" scale and tuned to open G.
Hi, mates!
Up here you find my shovel guitar plan. It's in Italian, 'cause I think there are some Italians who would like to build one, but can't understand english language plans very well... Enjoy!
Ciao!
Qui sopra trovate il mio progetto di costruzione di una shovel guitar. E' in italiano, così tutti coloro che volessero costruirsela, ma non sono molto abili con l'inglese, hanno una risorsa in italiano... Spero possa essere utile. Buon divertimento!
Walt
Note: A big grazie you to Walt for writing and posting these plans! We've edited his original post to include the top photo and the pdf download button.
