Washtub Bass

Washtub bass project from back in the spring:

The wood is all air dried cherry and walnut from the farm.  The washtub belonged to my great aunt.

  • Thanks!   The idea for the cleats came from this website:

My current project is going to be a  5 string banjoish thing.  Dog-dish aluminum chevy truck hubcap for a pot turned backwards with a cherry f-holed top.  Sort of the same look as the washtub bass.

  • A beautiful instrument, Steve. Good looking finish in pics, and I liked the cleats you installed in the tub to attach the sound board. Couldn't hear it too well in the video, but I bet it sounds good in person. Big angled neck, nice bridge, a really nice looking build. Thanks for sharing. I like my one string, shuffle board stick wash tub bass, but your build pretty much blows away all others I've seen. What are ya makin' next?
