Shane Speal signs landmark record deal with newly formed C. B. Gitty Records

"King of the Cigar Box Guitar" signs landmark record deal with newly formed C. B. Gitty Records

Shane Speal and Ben Baker seal the deal, creating C. B. Gitty Records and
plan the upcoming Shane Speal's Snake Oil Band album.

Two of the biggest players in the modern Cigar Box Guitar Revolution, Shane "The King of Cigar Box Guitar" Speal and guitar parts entrepreneur Ben “Gitty” Baker met last Friday to ink a deal creating C. B. Gitty Records, the first major homemade instrument record label of its kind.

The secret meeting was held at the New Hampshire factory headquarters of C. B. Gitty Crafter Supply, the world’s largest cigar box guitar and homemade instrument parts company. Company owner, Ben Baker said, “with the explosion of the cigar box guitar into the mainstream, it was only natural that we would create our own label and sign Shane Speal.”  He continued, “there’s not a band around that can touch Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band.”  Baker added, “after hearing the songs that will make up this next album.  I had to get behind this project.”

Speal said, “For what I have started with the cigar box guitar movement, Ben has multiplied it one hundred fold with his parts company, CBGitty.com.”  Speal added, “I’ve had several offers from record labels over the past year and I’ve turned them all down to work with Ben Baker.  He understands me and my music.  We’re in this together and the album is going to be incredible!”

Shane Speal is known as “The King of the Cigar Box Guitar” and has been playing the instrument for over twenty years.  His theatrical Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band is a hard rock incarnation of traditional jug bands and features electric washtub bass, washboard and harmonica in addition to Speal’s cigar box guitars and electric foot stomper.

A full-length album by Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band is slated for late Spring 2014.

BIG NEWS! Dennis Woloch, the iconic art director behind every KISS album cover from 1975-1986 will be the designer of the upcoming Shane Speal's Snake Oil Band album on C. B. Gitty Records!!! (Yes, he was the guy behind KISS Alive, Destroyer, the solo albums, Creatures of the Night... all of 'em.) I just got off the phone with him. We discussed concepts, themes and talked a whole lot about KISS. Dennis is also a cigar box guitarist! I'm freaking out here.
