So for number three I decided to reuse the neck from my cheapo cardboard blues box guitar.  My box choice was limited to the notch size on the neck.  The depth of the notch was increased a couple of mm to let the lid resonate a little better.  This sounds way better than the cardboard box and will definitely get picked up and played.
