Here’s something that might be useful to some folks. I learned this from a veteran Handyman some decades ago, so I won’t claim it to be my idea? Something he didn’t notice? If you use as much of the tube as possible, only a 1 1/2” by 3/8” piece (Valve Stem) of it will be thrown in the trash. That’s good for the environment! Which is always a plus. The Tools used were: Razor Knife & Sharp Scissors/Shears. I ended up cutting over 200+ different size bands from 1 Bicycle Tube? Get your Cheap on, my good people...
A good use:

My Dad used a small bicycle inner tube as a temporary fan belt(old V belt) on his truck til he could get back to a parts store.
yup learned from my old man, while he tought me to fix my bike tube, when i was a wheeee Young ladd, you can even ring em together and make a rope of bands and use it for a slingshot, or a glue fix !loads of way to re use stuff ,got a sack full of old rubber bike inner tires in the work shop! thanks for the reminder BQ ! fast & Cheap! Dont throw it on a heap! Recycle!
Good One, Brian Q. I use a long rubber band that I made from a car innertube back in 1976, and I'm still using it. You start cutting with a good pair of shears around and around the tube about 5/8" wide, until there's no more tube left.
