4 String Cookie Tin Guiatar

I need help on 2 points, please.

1. I am having trouble with getting the right size slot for the frets. i have tried a number of different saws which type  is best?

2. Not sure on the tuning.

  • 1 you need a real thin blade.. I use a scroll saw, which works awesome.

    2 I like gdgb with the fattest four from a regular set of guitar strings and a marginally shorter scale length (600mm)
  • You could tune it like a tenor guitar: CGDA and, to a lesser extent, GDAD, CGBD and DGBE. 

    Many open tunings: DF#AD (open D), DGBD (open G), etc. Tuning up or down, depending on string tension, or lack thereof...

  • What string gauges? Scale length?
