"I would use Mahogany, it will work the best of the three for boxes. As far as thickness, I would try to keep it 3/16 or less if you can. Heavier thicknesses will work just not as well. dimensions are up to you and the size of material available."

Story of Dan 2.0 at the STL FEST

Posted on June 6, 2017 at 10:34pm 10 Comments

Dan Sleep attended the 2016 fest and surprised everyone, wasn't sure he would come. He must've had a good time because he said he would be back.

Unfortunately Dan got some bad news and life turned on him and he wasn't well enough to attend this year. Talked with him via email and he asked if he sent a photo would I stick it in a corner then he would feel like he was there. I said that I would make it happen. Checked with others to see if my idea to make a life size image of Dan would…

Mr. Keys guitar

Posted on December 15, 2014 at 10:03pm 12 Comments

Mr. Key is a super nice guy who generouly has let me care for his lawn for the last seven years. About 1 1/2 yrs ago Mr. Key asked me to remove some rather large limbs from his roof that had fallen from his poplar tree. I sugested removing the tree before something landed in his bed.  He agreed and I convinced the tree company to let me have the trunk which I took to a sawmill…

Gary, just read your "Mr. Keys Guitar" post, Very nice. I know pick, don't know you, but would like to. curious, my friend has a saw mill that can be pulled as a trailer. helped cut a bunch of wood and a nice piece of walnut, the kept warping. how long did you need to dry your poplar wood? Here's a photo where we cut some rather green oak for friends truck bed. HEAVY.

Thanks for the invite and welcome I received from a few of you.  I look forward to attending the club meeting.  .  I just made my first cbg and license plate guitar as gifts and now I'm all in.  It's time to kick it up a notch!

Hi Gary. Thanks for what you did for Dan Not a problem, bud. Part of Dans legacy was his generosity to others.I have two of his guitars already.Glad to be passing along oneof Dans axes. This was his prototype Lap steel. They are the gift that keeps on giving.I have very ,very fortunate to have received more than a few guitar gifts from others. So I am glad to complete the circle of giving.Peace .I'll get er out hopefully early next week.
