Piezos From Outer Space!!!

The simple Piezo Disc pickup is one of the most underrated sound devices.  Sure, they work great as internal pickups for our cigar box guitars, but have you ever considered other possibilities? See Shane Speal's "Spring Thing" instrument (below) created by Shane Speal as a way to introduce you to new options for sound design, special effects and possibly inventing new and exotic instruments.Post your weird creations, sound machines and otherworldly piezo instruments here! See More

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).
Cigar box guitars are very... interesting... and meaningful.
;-p

I’ve been looking at building Asian single string zithers with timber bamboo... but went off on a tangent, considering making 3 string fretless guitars... what sent me on the tangent was watching some of Shane’s videos.

And... I live in Central America, haven’t met any like-minded individuals, so getting a looper, building a magnetic coil drone machine, and... we’ll see what happens.

And... don’t reject me.

  • Collaborative

  • Experimental (Building on history, collaboration and innovation)

In that spirit, and given I have my own soapbox blog on CB Nation (yay!), I want to introduce a link for an interesting fellow in the UK, that somehow fits into the whole CBG Esprit de Corps:
