Advice for volume knob placement and mounting?

I wonder what people think about putting the volume knob on the top side of the box rather than through the lid. Seems like the knob can get in the way when strumming, especially with a smaller box.…Continue

Protect this painted box ?

"That does work great. But, if you can only spray a couple of times, you can also brush on the rest of the coats. Gives it an artists look too as well as going on a bit thicker, but be careful not to create runs.  . Also,  you can also use…"

"During the build I put blue tape on the areas I’ll be cutting and mask the rest of the box with some heavy weight paper to protect it. For finish I use Minwax fast drying Polyurethane on most of my cigar boxes. It goes well over everything.…"

"I sprayed some water-based Varathane on this box. Worked pretty well. I’m sure it will eventually get some natural wear, assuming the guitar ends up being a good one...it will just take a little more time."

"Pegs are from the horseshoe coil that was in the electric razor . i used the coil as a pickup ,  it seems to pick up between the poles , middle string is a bit quieter than the rest ,  but not too noticeable ."

"I did one where the knobs are near the strap lug, but just out of the way. What I liked is that there is less wire movement when I need to open the lid."

"Hi. I put it on the side, right next to the jack input. if the material is too thick, use forstner drill to thine it from the inner side obviously"

"Hi, you would not want to be fiddling with that volume on the peghead as you play, as some player do, I can see one getting RSI. Ha ha. In this photo the volume is operated by the grill on the top right. Taff"

"yeah,  it runs down the truss rod channel . since the jack is in the head too. ;-) "
