"That is cool. I frequently need to be reminded how to be ingenious rather than reinventing the wheel. (I can abandon that big slab of granite, now!)"

Fret Saw 1

"Thanks Bob, took me awhile to get it done too, and I was pretty anxious to make that slot in the sled.  Whew.  I wasn't happy with any of the birch ply at the big box stores and the nearest Rockler is a couple hundred miles…"

Fret Saw 1

"Great job.  I bought the HF saw a couple years ago but still haven’t made the sled.  Maybe seeing yours will move me off the dime."

"I like your tile saw idea, you get to see the cuts, let me know how it works.  I figured cutting a fret slot would be light duty for the saw, that setting it up would be the challenge for me and the saw.  Something like hooch's set up…"

I recently took up the guitar and someone mentioned them to me and I ordered a kit and thought this could be a fun hobby to do at my girlfriends house where we share a work space.
I just got a request to build a four string mandolin for a friend and came here looking for plans or other and other ideas.
