The DIY spirit.
Even though a cigar box guitar can be a wonderfully complex and intricate work of functioning art, I prefer the simpler, folk art aspect of building CBGs.
And while I do buy many parts to build my guitars -- as opposed to building with 100% repurposed objects -- each instrument I've built makes me feel a little closer to the DIY spirit that I love about the people who built the country in which I live.
