"Great points Del. I learned turning off the negative filter during writing and that has helped me at least get the process rolling on a new song and at times for learning an existing one. And my wife reminds me I don't have to try to sound like…"
"Nicely said, Dave.
Ah, Andies. So true on the emotion. You are one of the best and not worrying about how the original was done and making it your own. Yup on the emotion.
And two more things. 1. VinylHead who used to…"
"Oke ! Del support all the above , but i believe you forgot about the EMOTION ! if the lyrics relate to a emotion that you have or had go for that ! thats what personelizes the hell out of a tune ! just so you know abot that aswell ,and dont be…"
"I like your ideas Del. I think we are all built on the shoulders of our predecessors. I think we channel our play From some ghost. I like to listen to my riffs until I hear the words in the melody. Or discover my riff is actually a song that already…"
"Del this is excellent and I thank you. I need to do more of making songs my own - which I often do- and less of trying to stay 'true' to something I can't duplicate. And really, why try to do a song just like the…"
What is the piece that you first played in your YouTube video titled "EQUALIZERS"?
Also I'm doing my first build and I'm glued to your videos. I'm trying to figure out the cut at the tail end of a 17" cigar box? You go from 3/16" to 3/8", how do you determine that calculation? I'm using a 25.5 scale 17 frets which places the bridge at 9.5" from the front end, should I go with a longer neck?
Thanks for any advice
I really liked your The Versatility of the "3 String Cigar Box Guitar" video. I'm curious about the nylon string gdg guitar example. Looks like it would fit in a airline carry on bag. Not much info out there on using nylon strings with 3-stringers. What scale length and strings were you using? I know how to figure tensions out with steel strings, but I have no clue with nylon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Del. Just wanted to say I find your videos really inspirational. Just watched your latest YouTube video on your 3 string CBG. You mentioned it's fretted in the E minor scale. Forgive my ignorance please but is that the 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 (for the middle string blue note) & octave? You're inspiring me to try a ruler neck and the same fretting.
Please, please keep up the awesomeness. I'm a fan already!
