- How many instruments have you built so far?
- I don't build CBGs, I upgrade or modify, but only play.
- What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).
- I have been playing since I was 13 years old. My dad bought me a Les Paul copy (gold top) and I haven't looked back since. Then life happened and I just kind of let the passion fade over the years.
I was doing a YouTube search and came across a fellow named Richard Johnston. I saw this video of him playing a Lowebow and that is when the tiny spark of passion began.
I ended up seeing another video done by Red Dog guitars, and that is the second step to where I am today. The third and final step was when I saw a video of this guy named Hollow Belly, that was to video (Mark of Cain) that pushed me into the crazy and awesome world of Cigar Box Guitars.
Today I am the proud owner of 7 CBGs and the movement has ignited the passion of music back into my bones. I don't really have room to build in our tiny apartment, but I do modify my CBGs with different bridges, stings, and tuners.
I guess you can say that folks like Hollow Belly, Shane Speal and others have removed the fog from my mind and heart, and now I am here on the West Coast of California and getting serious about building a website (cigarboxjams.xyz) That will be focused on the day to day life on one person's journey into the cigar box guitar movement. I am also working on writing songs, something I haven't done for years, and plan to take my CBGs to the public here in California.
