Move over brand new shiny guitar, Here comes my Cigar Box Guitar!!!

Way back when i was younger I always asked for a guitar, but i didn't get it. My dad would always say " Bo Diddley made his guitar with a cigar box and a piece o' wood". And i always looked athim like as if he were crazy. A few years later, I had a friend that wanted to leave his jacked up guitar at my house. The neck was broken away from the body, with only 3 strings and  he had no intentions of comin' back for it. what do I do with a guitar that can't be played? Bo Diddley! Yeah! That's it! I glued and screwed the broken off neck and bridge to a Hava-Tampa cigar box, thus creating my first guitar and cigar box guitar!
Twenty years later, I discovered "cigar box guitars" group strictly by accident, triggering my long lost love for all things cigar box. Isn't it funny how life comes full circle sometimes?

Thanks for accepting my friend request Brian. I'm working on a build now that was intended to be a basic simple quick build. It's turned into the most frustrating one yet. Never had trouble with fretting before now. I used the fretting kit from CB Gitty but fret Slots seem a little wide. And looks like I'm gonna have some work leveling also. Maybe I just got lucky on previous builds.

Hi, I was excited to find this place! I am a novice builder but also a professional artist in paint and sculpture. I hope to create boxes with style and maybe carved parts. I work in wood stone, fossil mammoth and walrus ivories, bone, etc, so maybe something exciting will come out of me. I sure hope so. I play guitars and some mandolin, so this is a logical step. I think if nothing else fun will happen! Thank you for the warm welcome!  My friends call me "Doc."

Thanks, Brian.

I am a bit obsessed with getting great tone from piezos for archtop guitars without preamps. I followed Ted Crocker's diagram for 1 meg pots in volume and tone circuit and it definitely gives more volume. The tone caps I used were .022 instead of .0022 and it works to make the sound more clear but doesn't really cut treble, which is desirable in some instances.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
