All right here is another tuning that you see used a lot.

Keni Lee Burgess uses this tuning on his CBG lessons here:

Beginning Tuning for Cigar Box (3 string)

Posted on July 1, 2009 at 8:30pm 0 Comments

Back from a month of field geology work. I took my CBG and Steel Resinator with me. More people got a kick out of the CBG then anything else.

I use two tunings to play around with.

First (from the top string down) D A D

Second (from the top string down) E E B

DAD tuning you have the following chords (if you are using a slide)

Starting at the tuning pegs:

Open D (no slide on the neck)

2nd E

3rd F

4th Gb

5th G

7th… Continue

Starting tabs

Posted on April 9, 2009 at 11:17pm 0 Comments

It's been quite slow on the CBG front. I am working on some tab for beginning CBG players (since that is what I am). I'll hopefully get that posted in the next few weeks. I am also working on step by step how to build as well.

Strings for CBG

Posted on January 18, 2009 at 1:54pm 0 Comments

I've been building several guitars with necks made out of popular and some random hardwoods. The question of what strings to use comes up. I haven't noticed much bending in the any of the necks using the following strings from top to bottom: 22w (wound), 16, 11. I've used metal strings with no problems.

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
