Building a Banjo Neck, Photo 7

Here is a shot from the fretboard side. You can see how the tuner is positioned relative to frets #4 and #5. You can also see the hole I had to drill through the fretboard and the neck which intersects with the hole I drilled for the tuner shaft. This hole allows me to thread the 5th string (actually 4th string in this build) through the string hole of the tuner shaft. Threading the string and tuning it turned out to be easier than I had imagined. Notice this hole is located very close to fret #5, less than 1/4" as I recall. This was done to allow fret #5 to act as a kind of nut to terminate string 5's shorter VSL.
