Mini amp circuit is based off a Smokey/Ruby amp. Thegain knob = 100k linear pot (I should have gone with a logarithmic pot - the gain pot is effectively zero at 5' o clock- but I didn't have one a log 100K one handy, I can't remember if the tone would be altered substantially had I used the 200k or 500k pots that I do have instead). Volume is the 25k rheostat recommended on the schematic found online. No LED to tell you the amp is on but I don't like the waste of battery power. Besides, if you can't tell your amp is on, then you have more serious problems. The speakers are hotglued in place which was not my initial preference but the wood baffle is pretty thin, making me think that screws are out of the question. I wouldn't mind a cloth or steel/drain grille but, meh.....Two 8-ohm speakers are in parallel - so that's effectively a 4ohm speaker - I couldn't tell much of a sound difference of wiring in series (16ohm) or just a single speaker. Not surprising given the cheap/scrap mini speakers.-The 9v is held in place by a neodymium magnet - had I known how usable this thing is as a preamp/head, I would have wired it to have an optional 9v AC adapter barrel plug adapter.
