We're going to do a CBG Zoom Jam as part of Cally Fest 2021. Bring your 3-string CBG and play along with the group. Songs will be led by Uncle John, Poorness Studios, and Doug Thorsvik (of the 1-finger CBG Slingers). All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Just another way to have fun with music, folks and home made instruments.
My crappy memory!! Who came up with the Cally-Fest idea a few years ago? Was it me? Was it Rick Sundberg? I don't know and it does not matter. It is public domain now and belongs to a bunch of us. Mostly a CBN folks thing.
I do remember the main point of the fest. It is in particular a way to let folks who can not attend a 'real' fest attend a fun and in our minds fest. It's a place where we can be legends in our own minds. Folks that can attend 'real' fests are most welcome too.
It's funny you say that about jamming Dave. I learned to jam in a modal jazz format where somebody picks a key and then everyone goes for broke. It might be slow, fast, energetic, mellow, ... and possibly all in the span of a few minutes. LOL.
Then the first time I went to a bluegrass "jam" I realized it was just a bunch of people playing the same song but trading solos. I was confused... this wasn't a jam... but then I looked at the faces in the crowd and realized the people were finding joy in what they were playing, just as much as the jazz cats soloing on top of each other.
I also learned about ukulele jams, which were quite popular up until the pandemic, where a bunch of players get into a room and all play the same songs. Again... not a "jam" the way I learned it... but they have fun. I think that's what it's ultimately about.
And I love that gif BrianQ.
I read Picks comment and kind of agree. I don’t get much from zoom meetings. We’ve tryed them with our band and it’s nice to see each other and gab but music kind of sucks. With just one track heard at a time it’s no jam, just a solo to play along with in silence. We switched off play from band mate to band mate. It wasn’t much fun. Sorry Doug but that’s my take On it. I like CalllyFest because it’s totally fantasy. I have adapted to doing tracks to build a tune up one piece at a time. not as fun as playing with my mates but it works for me. I like inventing my stories too. It adds another virtual journey to the music and I can bring drawing into the mix. I like the silliness of CallyFest too. Rick has put wonderful collages together of past fests with hilarious visuals. He’s such a master of invention and humor.
Well, I hope my comment doesn’t bring anyone down. Just putting in my take. Hope you enjoy the Zoomin.
Here is the direct download for the songbook: https://sites.google.com/site/cigarboxguitarslingersspokane/resources
