USAAF Normandy

Salute to the USAAF and all who serve. Started it on June 1 but didn't finish until July 4.My fifth build. The look was inspired by a pic of a P-51 in it's D-Day livery. And yes, the pipes go through the body top and are the sound hole.

    Thanks, Mr. Rat. I already sold this one - before I even had a chance to get tired of it - so my wife suggested I revisit the pipe theme and build a full-on steampunk guitar. Thinking of how I can have a system of exposed gears that shift the location of the piezo pickup for different tones. I suppose it should be copper colored rather than the aluminum of this one. Maybe build a mini-amp into the body so it can power a few (old school) ammeters on the soundboard. Just thinking out loud.
