  Well,...I cheated a little bit, I didn't wipe it off after I put the stain on, it's kind of a build-up....I guess I could have just used black paint.

  The fret board is oak, with ebony stain, brass colored frets, the dots are little metal stick on dots that I found at Wal-Mart (craft dept.) then I recessed them.
