Trillian

Want to build a uke? MGB's uke kit is the way to go. Great quality parts, super easy to build and only $35... just add a box.

This is Trillian, a steel string electric concert ukulele with a Mini Box Bucker under an antique tin cover and volume/tone.

You can build the kit in about an hour if you don't go overboard with the decorating like I did... took me about 10 hours but most of it was aesthetics.

Comment by Korrigan on February 4, 2019 at 10:23am: No extra reinforcement just a hanger bolt through the box (it's got fairly thick sides), glue between heel and side of the box, and glue between fretboard and top of box.

I tuned G3 C4 E4 A4 using .024w .018w .013 .010 strings giving me a total of 39lbs of tension. A nylon strung concert uke is about 33lbs. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see how it holds up but the idea was to see if MGB's kit and it's building method would survive steel strings. So far so good.
