Tim can microphones!

I used to cover the can tops with burlap. My wife found a picture online using bands used on canning jars and wire screen. I think the new look is great!

  • Very nice!   A more finished look to the end product.  I'd say 'more refined', but it's a damn soup can mic!  I love it!

  • Oh interesting. So the can is empty and the piezo is on the bottom? That's different. I actually used a ball jar lid and put the piezo on the top. Hmmm. Your method may be better. I agree about the jack making the mic bottom heavy.

  • The burlap was good. This is gooder.
  • I have a piezo disc inside the can. The only flat surface to put it on is the bottom. That leaves the side for the input jack. It also makes it comfortable to hold. Since the can is very light, the cord coming out the bottom makes the back end feel heavy. This feels a lot better in my opinion.
  • It looks like you put the jack on the side. I'd like to see some more pics of these. I made a soup can mic a while back and I really like it but looking for ways to improve the design.
