  • Vern, I asked my printer if I could spray a fixative on the print to put a finish on it. They said it’s uv coated already. It has a nice look as is. I think i’ll Build with it as is and see how it holds up in play.

Thanks Derek. I had fun doing the whole job. Got me into dog art. I want to try more paintings for guitar tops. Drawings too.

  • Wonderful painting Dave.

  • That looks great Dave! Is it safe to put a finish such as tung oil over the ink? I was pretty nervous about rubbing tung oil onto the top of the Gitty box Frank Zappa guitar. Fortunately the colors weren't affected.

  • I will!  ;)

  • Uncle you can steel, use, mutilate, spindle, trash, gift, or do anything you’d like with my work. Anytime.

  • Steven gave me the gift of this project Uncle. It’s been a lot of fun and has led me to this print on wood deal. I’ll build a guitar with it and try some more painting prints on wood. The results are wonderful. The scan from my printer could be useful too. I can send it to Steven for insurance should the painting be lost or destroyed in shipment. He can have wood prints made from it, banners, get a Gitty printed box, paper prints. Fun stuff! And I got a fine lap steel by Smiling Dog to boot!

  • That came out wonderful. Great gift to Stephen.  Good on yer, Dave.

Gees, you do nice things like this and some A-whole steals your songs!

  • I’m going to build a box with this as the top and make a 3 string out of it. I’m very happy with my results! It wasn’t cheap. About 43$ for the scan and print but I think it’s worth it. Very strong print on a guitar grade 1/8 inch thick Spruce top. The print is 7 3/4 inch tall. I know Gitty can do printing on wood too. I’ll try Gitty next.

  • Nice!
