Sky Vue Drive In Amp

Sky Vue Drive In Amp, 2.5 a watt Artec amp, on/off volume w/ red led, original 4" speaker. The Sky View (they etched Vue on the speaker as did most of the drive ins back then) opened in 1954 and closed in 1985. I remember going there in the 70's and early 80's.

  • Well Thomas you would be the MAN when it comes to cool car collections my friend, all awesome rides!!!

What are you talkin' bout John, the Desoto was the Chick Magnet of the car world man! It's what Richie Cunningham drove for crying out loud, it don't get no cooler than Richie Cunningham :-)

  • Still do, I've got a '64 Dodge Polara with a 440 that will smoke the tires of the rims and a vintage gas modified roadster drag race project going together, built with a T bucket on Model T Ford frame rails powered by a '34 Dodge flathead 6.

  • You guys had the cool hot rods!

  • Uncle John, I miscounted, I had 18 by the time I turned 21. My first car was a 1950 Studebaker Commander, but along the way I had a '53 Ford station-wagon, a '50 Chevy Coupe, a '59 Fiat 500, a '55 Oldsmobile 98, a '48 Buick Roadmaster, a '41 Mercury 4 door, a '47 Ford coupe, a '57 Studebaker Champion, a '50 Chevy Sedan-delivery, the '57 Chevy station-wagon, a '50 Studebaker pick-up and a '56 Chevy Bel Air 4 door Hardtop. Those were the street driven cars. Projects and race cars included a '53 Ford Victoria that we ran in gas class drags, a '29 Model-A ford Cabriolet, a Fiat Topolino altered drag car project set up for an Olds V8, a '51 Austin A-40 Gasser set up for a Studebaker V8 and a dragster project with a Chrysler hemi. Add to that a 1964 Yamaha 80 and a 1963 Honda 50 for the two wheel side. You could say that a lot of my life has been devoted to mechanical stuff.

  • How true Thomas :-)

Bluntly put Jabes, the Dodge Challenger hauled ASS!!! :-)

The Desoto was and still is one of my favorite old cars John, they just floated down the road. A classic car if there ever was one in my opinion. Hang your new amp on a Desoto window for a song, the two were made for each other. I'll see if I can locate one around here.

  • Ha!   Wanna bes!  My first car was a 49' Desoto with a flat head six and one barrel carb.  It once (briefly) did 72 mph.

  • USA and the UK. Two countries separated by a common language. :)>

  • that last comment is  complete gibberish to a brit..

  • My first car was a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 383, dual Holley carbs, Hooker Headers and Thrush glasspacs. We cut the glasspacs open in high school welding class and stripped the insides out then welded it back up, mounted the weld to the inside so the cops couldn't see where we had cut it open. We were basically running straight pipes at that point, we used 2" pipe and daylighted it in front of the rear tires. When we went down mainstreet and downshifted at night you could see the fire shoot out the pipes and light up the store front windows :-) I would give anything to have that car back, I think the Blair mainstreet still has some Mickey Thompson rubber on it to this day :-)

  • Wish we had that car to hang the speaker and make a vid.
