I got ambitious and tried a six and a twelve string. I am always trying to use locally sourced material as much as possible. The necks are steel reinforced with 1/8" x 1/2" flat bar obatined from a local supplier.the six string has a neck offset from the box of about 1.5 degrees. The steel runs to the front of the box and there are oak splines before and after. The twelve string neck is straight through. The steel runs from the headstock to the far end of the box. Both of these have peizos in them. The Six string is a zero fret and the twelve string has a commercial nut. This was pretty much a learning exercise. The six string plays really well, but the neck is just a little narrow. I used the dimensions form a commercial nut, but I think it was for a guitar that flared the fret board a fair bit at the bridge. On the twelve string, I am going to knock the nut off and bring it down about 1 to 1.5 millimeters. It plays well up top, but is still a finger killer at the nut. It has a wicked sound though.
