  • Yep, they are ! I was messin' around with mine and my wife even commented how cool it was that I could pick out a tune on something so simple with "one" string !!!  Most of the time she just thinks I'm nuts ...

  • Diddlys are fun.  I messed with two of mine today.

  • I wanted to keep it simple but sound good so I picked the plainest looking box I had and grabbed a stick of oak. I reinforced the box with pine on each end and in the center. Even though oak is harder to work with with my bench top wood working tools, than pine or poplar, when I use oak for the neck the build always sounds clearer and louder. Plays and sounds better than I thought it would ! String height is about right. I usually always use 5/16" set screws or all thread for bridge and nut. Yep, side fret markers. Having alot of fun pickin' out old Church Hymns and Folk tunes and of course Dem Blues !! Thanks for the Inspiration Uncle John !!!!!

  • Yup. I was going to say 'Good, simple diddly' even before reading your comments.  How does it play?  Is the string height up enough for easy slide?   Side fret markers?  How's the playing going?

  • Diddley Bow with red oak neck ... plain n simple.
