    Yes the resonator cone sits on a small platform(soundwell?) to raise it off the back and the thick(but partly hollowed) biscuit on the cone protrudes through the top so the front sound comes out of the lower soundhole and the back/bass(such that it is) comes out the top one.

    These are Hilo regular high g but high tension strings would work better to drive the cone harder.
