DOH! Brain cramp there. Was thinking one thing talkin bout another. That piezo is HOT-GLUED (inspired by Richard Brantley @ Homegrown Strings). Not sure how you'd stick a wax surface to the lid anyway, but since I dug myself the hole... Both materials stifle microphonic noise from pickup vibration - wax has always been used on wound coil pups- but it also attenuates tone and gives a warmer mellow sound, so if you like 'em with bite, say goodbye. Other than this the insulating properties may be a bit different but not sure how - glue seems harder than wax might be but that's close to voodoo talk so don't quote me.
