Project 6: gluing issues

There's some daylight here for sure. I suspect it's the wood; I checked mine for level, but forgot to check his. Or it could have been that I spent too long on the glue, or put too much on, or had issues clamping?Anyway, I'm guessing I get to explore the possibilities of reversing hide glue today!

  • Okay, I have successfully delaminated the fretboard.  With the pieces apart and cleaned up it's clear that it's a straightness issue with the fretboard - the store board.  So I'm sorry for having needlessly impugned my husband's cutting and sanding!  His cut was fine!

    So I've got it damp and clamped now in in hopes that I can improve the shape a little bit, but I think we're either in for a different fretboard or to use it upside down.  Which would normally have been fine, but he'd already stained it.  Hm.
