(Full View: 1/8) My first build. Assisted by Scott Wall founder of CigarBox Sounds. The box is from Oliva Cigar Co. (founded 1995) who manufacturer several brands of cigars, primarily grown and produced in Nicaragua. This was a cheap build using affordable Classical guitar tuners, a cheap Piezo and Screws for a nut and bridge. Keeping it simple I left the guitar fretless, marking fret marks with a saw. I used a belt sander, blow torch and wood stain to fade (relic) the box and neck. Personally I think this guitar plays great, ecspecislly with a Ceramic slide. It sits best in DGD. I'm really happy with how my first simple build turned out, especially since it's my first! Can't wait to see what all you master luthiers are up to! Thanks for reading!

  • Charlie - what a great first build!  Like the relic finish - I agree with Brent about needing to add a torch!  I sometimes use a bolt/nail and a cigar lighter to 'brand' in fret markers already, so it's a natural step for me!  Welcome to the addiction!

  • Cheers Brent! You've got to try it! It's so satisfying burning and setting the box on fire. It's almost therapeutic!
  • I like that finish man. Looks awesome. I gotta get a torch now.
