Oak test piece following extra application

After the oak test piece had dried out following the first application (about 30mins) I used a brush to give a second dose of the same iron sulphate solution to an area about an inch wide at the end of the previously treated section. This is the result about 10 minutes later. The photo is a little over exposed but hopefully it still gives a useful idea - the colour of the double treated area is definitely denser but it remains very much a slate grey rather than black. Later on I applied a wax finish to the sample, which darkened the colour (see next pic)
