  •  I agree John, The old fiber board boxes sound good and are easy to work with, and light too. The only downside is the best art is on the inside lid, I suppose all the stores had them open to sell.

  • The neck is all one piece on this one, I get poplar 1 1/2 " square and shape it on my band saw. Got a few I made this way, my saws not the greatest hard to hold the line but with sanding it works. This way I also have a heal as well and keep the piece whole through the box so when I cut for my pickup its still solid.

  • that looks fine !!! lid flipped or not !.  How do u make that drop down on the tuner end ?

  • Ha, nothing wrong with lid flipping.  I do it all the time if the underside looks better.   This box looks like it is not wood.   I think these old 'fiber' boxes are badly under rated.  I love em.  They very often sound good.  I just finished one and I'm close to done on another.

  • This box was whipped but said 1933 value on it, so given its age not too bad, had to do a cover flip cause the top paper was mangled.

  • Wow!  A lot of old timey mojo!
