This looked a lot clearer on the camera, but it's supposed to show my solution for putting a fifth string on a four-string neck. The neck is a standard oak 1x2, which isn't wide enough for five strings, so I glued strip of pine (I believe 3/4"x1/2") to one side. They didn't have oak in that size. Then I got nervous about the glue, so I added some screws to reinforce it.
