My First Cigar Box Uke

In fact this is my first Cigar Box anything. Took about three hours to knock together. I did cheat a bit using the neck of one of those cheap £20 ukes. Headstock is decorated with the inner paper from the box.I'm surprised and impressed with how it turned out. Doesn't quite hold it's tuning but I thinks that's because the glue for the neck joint still needs to set.

  • Tuning is fine. Think it was a combination of the neck glue setting and the strings stretching.
  • Beautiful job
  • No such thing as cheating when comes to building cigar box guitars. You just run with what you got. Great looking build. Play it loud, play it proud.
  • John,
cheers and hope so. Saw a flyer for your fest last year but didn't come. Hope to come to this years.

    Douglas,
I don't know the correct terminology but that's not the paper off the box but the flap that would fold over the cigars inside the box.
Trimmed to size and glued with a bit of Pritstick paper glue.

  • Boy, the headstock treatment just makes the whole thing work. Sweet.
  • How did you get the paper off the box so nicely????

  • That is a great Fn idea. That looks really nice on the neck. You have given me a nice idea. Thanks.
