if one looks closely at the antique hinges in the photo below, they were actually riveted on, and somebody replaced some with screws. pity. i would have put a c-clamp on the rivet, sprayed some accelerator and put some good superglue under the hinge where the rivet would be, on both sides. amazing how well it works. those hinges are much older than me, by a long shot. i'm 62.
thanks Darryl. Heated it with a torch, didn't always get the results i wanted, so i put it in the drill press and branded thin pieces of nice wood, cut the good ones out, then screwed them to my instrument/amp.

I am going to make a branding iron as well...I have a mill in my garage...probably use it once a year..thing weighs 700 lbs..so it's here to stay
